Edhy Prabowo has officially stepped down from his position as Maritime and Fisheries Minister early Thursday morning after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) announced the former minister’s status as a suspect in the alleged business permit grafts.
The Gerindra party politician was arrested by KPK on November 25, in the anti-graft agency’s sting operation (OTT) at Soekarno-Hatta Internasional’s Terminal 3 as Edhy was just returning from his work visit to the United States.
The KPK sting operation also arrested 16 people spread across Jakarta, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi.
In the suspect-naming press conference, Edhy Prabowo apologized to his mother and Indonesians in general, especially those who actively engage in fisheries.
